Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has criticized Simon Ekpa, the Finland-based leader of the Autopilot, describing him as a businessman exploiting the suffering of the Igbo people. Mbah has urged the Southeast region to ignore Ekpa’s sit-at-home orders and threats.
During a visit from the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Mbah expressed his frustration with Ekpa’s continued presence in Finland, despite the violence and destruction allegedly caused by his supporters.
Mbah stated, “Ekpa, who lives comfortably in Finland, is inciting chaos and self-destruction among our youths while pretending to fight for the Igbo people’s interest. He exploits the situation for personal gain and extorts those who may not understand his true motives. He is simply a common criminal.”
The governor reassured the people of Enugu about their safety and condemned the intimidation tactics used by Ekpa. “We will continue to protect our people and maintain security through our agencies. We refuse to be intimidated or succumb to the atmosphere of siege that Ekpa seeks to create. Our hard work and resilience will not be undermined by his actions.”
Mbah also criticized the Finnish government for allowing Ekpa to reside there while allegedly perpetuating terrorism in Nigeria. He urged the House Committee to investigate the matter and facilitate Ekpa's repatriation and legal prosecution.
Earlier, Hon. Ahmed Satomi, Chairman of the House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, commended Mbah for his exemplary approach to security and governance.
