Asari Dokubo Accuses Wike of Overreach in Rivers Crisis

In a recent video, former Niger Delta militant Asari Dokubo has leveled strong criticism against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accusing him of acting like a deity in the ongoing political turmoil involving him and his godson, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Dokubo expressed his discontent with what he perceives as Wike's assertion of absolute power, labeling it as futile and unsustainable. He also directed his dissatisfaction towards President Bola Tinubu, alleging that Tinubu has disproportionately favored one individual in the administration of Rivers and Bayelsa states.

Amidst this political tension, Governor Fubara highlighted significant progress in the state's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), noting a substantial increase from N12 billion to N27 billion monthly. Dokubo commended this development while suggesting that Fubara inherited a significantly lower revenue base of just N6 billion.

However, the situation escalated further as Governor Fubara announced plans to establish a panel of inquiry to scrutinize governance matters within the state. He emphasized the appointment of Dagogo Iboroma, SAN, as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, criticizing the actions of the former Attorney General, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, who recently resigned.

Governor Fubara condemned Adangor's alleged sabotage of the government's efforts and questioned his conduct before a Magistrate Court, insinuating a breach of professional ethics.

As the political landscape in Rivers State continues to evolve, tensions remain high, with accusations and counter-accusations shaping the discourse. The allegations made by Asari Dokubo against Minister Wike underscore the complexity and intensity of the power struggle within the state's political arena.
