Lagos Billionaire-Kidnappers: Popular Nollywood Actor Owns Operational Vehicles

Barely hours after the police eliminated nine billionaire kidnappers terrorizing Lagos and its surroundings, it was revealed that a popular Nollywood actor and producer, identified only as Ode, was among those killed during the police encounter.

Despite initial skepticism, it has been confirmed that the actor, based in Port Harcourt, was indeed one of the kidnappers slain by the Commissioner of Police Special Squad in Lagos' Ladipo area. The kidnappers had reportedly targeted a wealthy businessman at the Ladipo auto spare parts market.

Investigations revealed that the two vehicles used by the kidnappers—a Lexus 350 Jeep and a 4 Runner Jeep—were registered in the actor's name. Additionally, two mobile phones recovered from the kidnappers were registered under the actor's name, but with fake photos and addresses. All other documentation linked to the kidnappers was also in his name.

Detectives have made significant progress in identifying the gang members. They discovered that one of the deceased was a twin, who has since fled their residence after learning of his brother's demise. A WhatsApp user identified the twins and several other gang members, noting that they had been seen at a bar where they celebrated and spent lavishly.

Efforts to apprehend the remaining gang members continue, with one of the fugitives traced to a northern city. Another rendezvous spot used by the kidnappers has been identified, and surveillance is underway to capture more members. The owner of a popular beer parlour frequented by the gang is in police custody and has provided valuable information.

The kidnappers had evaded detection for so long partly because they were often dressed in military uniforms, which allowed them to pass through police checkpoints unnoticed. Camouflage uniforms were among the items recovered from their vehicles.

In response to the police's success, the Ladipo market executive members recently visited Lagos State Police Commissioner Adegoke Fayoade to commend the police and present a certificate of commendation. They promised continued cooperation to combat crime in the area. Additionally, some hoteliers and businessmen reported an increase in business as customers, previously deterred by crime, began to return.
