The Katsina Elders Forum has called on President Bola Tinubu to address the alleged cancellation of the Katsina-Dutsinma-Marrarbar Kankara Road contract by Minister of Works, Dave Umahi. The forum claims that the contract's revocation undermines the goodwill President Tinubu has in the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dr. Namanga Danmajiya, the spokesperson for the forum, expressed disappointment over the alleged cancellation of the road project, which had initially been awarded in April. The forum noted that the contract's award had been met with widespread enthusiasm in Katsina, as it promised to enhance transportation and facilitate the movement of goods.
“We are concerned that the 147km Katsina-Dutsinma-Marrarbar-Kankara Road project was revoked on what we perceive as unsubstantiated grounds,” the statement read. “We are wary of the suggestion that the revocation might be driven by personal interests of the minister.
“We believe that President Tinubu, known for his commitment to national progress, is being misled regarding this decision. The President's support for the project had been well-received by the people of Katsina. We urge him to review the situation and ensure that the contract proceeds as initially planned, reflecting his dedication to the welfare of all Nigerians.”
