Tobi Amusan Shines Bright: Smashes World-Leading Time at Jamaica Invitational

Nigerian Sensation Tobi Amusan Outpaces Competition with Record-Breaking Run at Jamaica Invitational

In a dazzling display of speed and skill, Nigerian track star Tobi Amusan dominated the women's 100m hurdles at the inaugural Jamaica Athletics Invitational, held at the National Stadium. Racing to victory in a jaw-dropping 12.40 seconds, Amusan not only clinched the win but also set a new world-leading time, eclipsing the previous record of 12.42 set by Tonea Marshall of the USA.

Initially trailing behind reigning world champion Jamaican Danielle Williams and American Nia Ali, Amusan showcased her trademark burst of acceleration in the final moments of the race, leaving her competitors in her wake.

According to Jamaica.loopnews.com, Williams claimed the second spot with a time of 12.46 seconds, followed closely by Christina Clemens of the USA in third place with 12.54. Jamaican athlete Yanique Thompson secured fourth position in 12.59, while Nia Ali slipped to fifth with a time of 12.65.

Amusan's triumph in Jamaica adds another chapter to her illustrious career, following her impressive win at the Diamond League women's 100m hurdles title in Eugene, Oregon, where she silenced critics after a challenging performance at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last season.

Notably, Oregon holds special significance for Amusan, as it was where she clinched the world title in 2022 and set a world record in the process.

In another remarkable display of athleticism, Daniel Roberts of the USA led a 1-2 finish for his country in the men's 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line with a commanding time of 13.17 seconds. Eric Edwards followed closely in second place with 13.33, narrowly ahead of Jamaican athlete Lafranz Campbell, who clocked 13.37.
