Panic ensued on Friday when an unidentified woman passed away in a tricycle while traveling in the Isheri, Idimu area of Lagos State.
The woman had boarded the tricycle on Isheri-Igando Road and was en route to her destination at the Isheri end of the route. Upon reaching her bus stop, the tricycle rider informed her that they had arrived. However, when the rider attempted to collect the fare, he discovered she was unresponsive and later realized she was motionless.
An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the incident, reported that the rider called for help, attracting the attention of passersby. They arrived to find the woman unresponsive, lying with her head on the tricycle's barricade.
The eyewitness recounted, “I was near the Isheri bus stop when I heard the tricycle rider shouting for assistance. Upon approaching, we saw the woman unresponsive. The rider had expected her to disembark and pay, but when she didn’t respond, he raised the alarm. The scene quickly drew a crowd as it was unusual.”
Another witness, Sodiq, mentioned that despite efforts by residents to revive the woman, their attempts were unsuccessful. The police arrived shortly thereafter, causing the crowd to disperse to avoid potential implications.
“It was suggested that she might have had a pre-existing health condition or possibly suffered a heart attack,” Sodiq added.
The tricycle was taken to the Idimu police station, and the deceased was transported to an undisclosed hospital. Attempts to contact Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin for further information were unsuccessful.
