Speaker of the House of Representatives Commits to Completing Projects of Late Member Ekene Adams

 




Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has pledged that all ongoing projects initiated by the late Hon. Ekene Adams will be completed as planned. This assurance was given during Adams' burial service at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Romi, Kaduna, where the Speaker was represented by Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji, the Member for Zango/Jaba Federal Constituency.

Hon. Ekene Adams, who represented the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, passed away last Tuesday following a prolonged illness. At the time of his death, Adams was serving as the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports and had previously managed Remo Stars and Kada Stars FC.

In his address, Speaker Tajudeen's representative expressed deep condolences and highlighted Adams' significant contributions. He assured that no project initiated by Adams would be redirected, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring the projects benefit the intended communities.

Regarding the distribution of fertilizers, the Speaker noted that no Kaduna State representative has yet received their allocation. He committed to working with Adams' staff to ensure the fertilizers reach the correct recipients once available.

Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, through Dr. Yunusa Tanko, praised Adams for his dedication to his constituents, especially in empowering women and youth, regardless of political affiliations.

Kaduna State's Governor, represented by the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, praised Adams' resilience and dedication, promising that his ongoing projects would continue without interruption.

Colleagues of the late Adams, including Hon. Bello el-Rufai of Kaduna-North Federal Constituency, Hon. Mukhtar Zakari Chawai, and Hon. Afam Ogene, expressed their condolences and recognized Adams’ impactful role in the development of sports in Nigeria.

A wide range of dignitaries, including members of the Kaduna State House Assembly, also attended the ceremony.

In related local news, at the deceased's residence on Ekene Street, Gbagyi Villa 2 in Kaduna, community members gathered to mourn his passing. Youths were observed engaging in a mock football match, while groups of women were seen conversing quietly, reflecting on the loss.

Attempts by our correspondent to speak with residents or guards at the late Adams' home were unsuccessful, as the family was reportedly away arranging for the return of his body for burial.
