Senator Sam Anyanwu, National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on Nigerians to prioritize building more schools rather than hotels to enhance educational opportunities for children across the country.
Speaking in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, during the opening of DaniJoy International Secondary School, Anyanwu commended the school’s founder, Hon. Chukwudi Apugo, for his commitment to improving education in Nigeria. He emphasized that the establishment of more educational institutions would foster healthy competition among students and elevate their overall capacity.
“It’s more beneficial to build schools than hotels,” Anyanwu stated. “In Imo State, for instance, hotels are everywhere, but what we need are schools. Quality education is crucial for our children to compete globally.”
The newly opened school, which adheres to the Cambridge curriculum, aims to provide a high standard of education and a conducive learning environment. Anyanwu praised the school’s facilities and urged more Nigerians to invest in education to combat illiteracy effectively.
Hon. Apugo, chairman of the school, expressed optimism about the school’s impact, highlighting its focus on academic excellence and character development. “We invite residents of Uyo and beyond to enroll their children with us and experience the value we offer,” he said. “Our goal is to make a significant contribution to education in this region, just as we have in Umuahia.”
Mrs. Queen-Esther Anyanwu, the school principal, outlined the institution’s vision to provide an enriching environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and personal growth. She emphasized the school’s commitment to international standards, noting the comprehensive facilities available, including science labs, an e-library, and a tech innovation hub.
“Our mission is to ensure that every student realizes their full potential and contributes positively to society,” Mrs. Anyanwu added. “We aim to offer an educational experience that rivals those found in developed nations.”
