The five corps members who were abducted four days ago by 15 suspected gunmen in the Ifon community of Ose Local Government Area in Ondo State have been released after a ransom of N5 million was paid.
The kidnapped victims included three females and two males, who were on their way back from Enugu State after completing their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp. The incident occurred along the Ifon-Owo highway, where the vehicle’s driver and a female passenger were tragically shot dead.
The released corps members have been identified as Adewole Oluwaseun, Oluwadara Feranmi, Andrew Patience, Oribamise Taiwo, and Ajayi Lekan.
Lawal Happiness, a brother to one of the victims, recounted, “After completing their NYSC orientation, they reported to their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) and then set out to return home to gather their belongings for proper resumption. They began their journey from Enugu State on July 18, 2024, at 9 a.m.”
Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the victims' release in a statement.
