Bauchi and Zamfara Await Federal Rice Allocation, Bayelsa Receives 20 Trucks

Bauchi and Zamfara states are still waiting for the truckloads of rice promised by the Federal Government as part of efforts to mitigate the ongoing food crisis. In contrast, Bayelsa State has already received 20 truckloads of rice for distribution across its local government areas.

Mustafa Jafaru, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to Bauchi State Governor Dauda Lawal, confirmed that Bauchi had not yet received its allocation. "We have yet to get the truck of rice as promised by the Federal Government. We just heard about the distribution of the commodity but we have yet to get our own," he stated.

Adama Ibrahim, Information Officer for the Bauchi State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, echoed this sentiment, noting that preparations are in place to receive the rice once it arrives. "We are aware that the Federal Government has allocated 760 trucks of rice to states; that 20 trucks will be sent to Bauchi State. Bauchi State had yet to receive its share," she explained.

Meanwhile, in Bayelsa, the state government has confirmed the arrival of its rice consignment. Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy, Ebiowou Koku-Obiyal, stated, "The state has received the palliative rice. I just confirmed from the chairman of SEMA that the state had received 20 trucks of 25kg rice."

As the distribution continues, states like Bauchi and Zamfara are eagerly awaiting their share to help alleviate the food crisis affecting their residents.
