Tragic Night on Festac Link Bridge: Woman, Toddler, and Motorcyclist Injured in Accident

A serious car accident occurred on the Festac Link Bridge in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State late Saturday night, leaving a woman, her toddler, and a motorcyclist, commonly known as an Okada rider, severely injured.

The incident, which took place around 11:00 pm, involved a driver who reportedly lost control and collided with the motorcyclist carrying the woman and her child. Witnesses at the scene described a chaotic situation with the victims found unconscious and quickly transported to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Joshua Davids, a local resident who witnessed the event, provided a firsthand account of the terrifying moment. "The driver hit a woman and a baby on her back. Thankfully, he was protected by an airbag and was unharmed. He immediately rushed the woman and her baby to the hospital,” Davids explained.

Another witness, preferring to remain anonymous, recounted hearing a loud noise before rushing to the scene. "I saw the bike rider seemed unconscious, and the woman with her toddler on the ground," the witness said. They described the vehicle as having swerved across lanes, striking the motorcyclist and his passengers directly.

The severity of the injuries appears significant, with the woman reportedly suffering from head and leg injuries. The driver, though physically unscathed, took quick action to assist the injured parties.

As of late Saturday night, police had not yet arrived at the scene, and details about the cause of the accident or any potential charges remain unclear. The community is left hoping for a swift recovery for the victims and calling for increased safety measures on the bridge to prevent future tragedies.
