PCNGI Launches Conversion and Refuelling Site in Ilorin

The Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNGI), in collaboration with Rolling Energy, has announced the launch of a PCNGI conversion and refuelling site in Ilorin. This facility represents a significant milestone in PCNGI's mission to promote sustainable energy solutions.

According to a statement from PCNGI, the Ilorin site, developed and managed by Rolling Energy, will play a crucial role in facilitating the transition to cleaner energy by offering conversion and refuelling services.

During the launch event, PCNGI also unveiled the commencement of the Nationwide Mass Transit Conversion Programme. This initiative aims to convert mass transit vehicles to cleaner energy sources, thereby reducing emissions and promoting environmental sustainability.

The initial phase of the programme will be implemented in Lagos, Kwara, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Rivers states, in collaboration with major transport unions such as the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO).

To ensure the success of the programme, the rollout will begin at eight of over 120 conversion sites, with key union partners closely observing and evaluating the process. Feedback from these partners will inform plans to scale up operations in 15 states.

Furthermore, PCNGI has announced a 50% discount on equipment and kit costs, along with support for qualified union members to cover installation costs. This strategic approach aims to incentivize participation and facilitate the widespread adoption of cleaner energy solutions within the transportation sector.

The launch of the PCNGI conversion and refuelling site in Ilorin represents a significant step towards achieving the initiative's goals of promoting cleaner energy and environmental sustainability across Nigeria.
