Customs Foils Fuel Smuggling: Adamawa Operation Nets Millions in Intercepted Petrol

In a concerted effort to curb illicit activities along its borders, the Adamawa/Taraba command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) reports a significant seizure of 12,435 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), with an estimated value of N10.8 million. This revelation comes as Customs Area Comptroller Bashir Garba-Bature addresses the press in Yola, shedding light on recent anti-smuggling endeavors.

The intercepted contraband, comprising 491×25-liter and 8×20-liter jerry cans of petrol, was apprehended in Mubi en route to neighboring Cameroon. Garba-Bature underscores the vigilance of his officers, highlighting five incidents of PMS interception within a mere two-week span. He reaffirms the command's commitment to combatting smuggling, emphasizing strategic deployment along border flashpoints.

Expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, Garba-Bature calls upon the media, sister security agencies, and patriotic citizens to join forces in eradicating the scourge of smuggling. He credits the command's success to the unwavering support and leadership of Customs Comptroller-General, Mr. Bashir Adeniyi.

As the NCS continues its crackdown on illicit activities, this interception underscores the necessity of heightened vigilance and collaboration in safeguarding national borders and preserving economic integrity.
