Nigerian Correctional Service Refutes Claims of Special Treatment for Bobrisky in Prison

The Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has officially denied reports that Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, is being housed in a VIP apartment at Kirikiri Correctional Centre. This clarification comes in response to rumors suggesting that the social media personality, serving a six-month sentence for mishandling Nigerian currency, was lodged in a luxury cell.

Rotimi Oladokun, the spokesperson for the NCoS, addressed these claims in a public statement. The statement highlighted that the facility does not provide special accommodation such as en-suite cells or one-bedroom apartments. "It's important to correct the misleading information circulating online," Oladokun noted.

The statement further clarified Bobrisky's prison conditions: “Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky, is housed in a shared cell alongside other inmates, consistent with our standard protocol for all individuals in custody. There are no facilities for VIP treatment as all inmates are subject to the same conditions.”

Bobrisky is entitled to the same reformative and rehabilitative opportunities, such as educational and vocational training, which are available to all inmates. These provisions are part of the broader efforts of the NCoS to ensure equitable treatment and aid in the rehabilitation of those in its custody.

The Lagos Command urges the public to dismiss the unfounded rumors and assures that the treatment of Bobrisky aligns with standard correctional practices without any undue privileges. The command also reminded that all family and legal visits are strictly supervised as per regulatory guidelines to maintain order and security within the facility.
