Doris Simeon Opens Up About Her Life and Work in the USA

In a candid interview with her colleague Kunle Afod, Nigerian actress Doris Simeon shared insights into her life in the United States, where she has resided since 2018. Simeon, who moved to be closer to her child and his father, expressed a strong sense of resilience and adaptability in facing the challenges of life abroad.

"I wasn't ashamed of doing menial jobs in America because I needed to pay my bills," Simeon stated, highlighting the tough reality of the American system where "only the tough will last." She emphasized the necessity of hard work in an environment where avoiding financial responsibilities is not an option. "If one does not work, one won’t eat, and one won’t be able to pay bills," she added.

During her time in the U.S., Simeon has taken on various jobs to make ends meet. "I have lost count of the number of jobs I have done here," she said, listing roles from delivery services to personal shopping and hairdressing. She currently serves as a social worker, a role she secured with the government.

Despite the hardships, Simeon maintains a strong connection to her roots, missing the street foods and close-knit relationships back in Nigeria. She also touched upon her personal life, maintaining privacy but confirming she is in a relationship. "The fact that I don’t post online does not mean I don’t have a man in my life," she explained.

Simeon's story is a testament to her resilience and determination to thrive under challenging circumstances while staying connected to her cultural heritage and personal values
