Bandit Attack Claims 23 Lives in Kaduna's Birnin Gwari

 



The Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State witnessed a tragic incident as bandits killed 23 locals in a recent attack.

Alhassan Ibrahim Saulawa, Chief Press Secretary to the Interim Local Government Chairman of Birnin Gwari LGA, confirmed the unfortunate event. He revealed that a large group of bandits launched an assault on Anguwar Danko village in the Kakangi constituency of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, resulting in the death of over 20 individuals.

Reports indicate that the bandits carried out the attack on Wednesday, unleashing gunfire indiscriminately and abducting numerous residents of the area. The community, situated approximately 10 kilometers from Dogon Dawa village within the same LGA, fell victim to the brazen operation.

Mallam Yahaya Musa Dan Salio also corroborated the incident, disclosing that 23 residents lost their lives, with five others sustaining injuries. He mentioned that some abducted villagers managed to escape into the surrounding bush during the assault.

Dan Salio lamented the loss of lives, indicating that 19 victims were from Anguwar Danko, while four others hailed from Kanawa village. The deceased were laid to rest on Thursday, marking a somber occasion for the community.

In addition to the loss of lives, the attackers also rustled cows from the area, exacerbating the plight of the affected villagers. Salisu Isah, the Interim Chairman, visited the community to express condolences and offer support to the bereaved families and the injured.

The exact number of abducted individuals remains uncertain, as many residents are still missing, having fled into the bush to evade the attackers during the harrowing ordeal.
